The Willows Celebrates International Women’s Day with Mayor of Charnwood.
On Friday 8th March 2024 – International Women’s Day, we had the privilege of welcoming
the Mayor of Charnwood, Mayor Margaret Smidowicz to The Willows Care Home to meet
our staff and residents. The Mayor has been a Councillor of Loughborough since 2011, and is the 50th Mayor of Charnwood.
The Mayor graciously kept her commitment despite her broken foot, and met with many of
our residents and staff. She gave the Home an insight into her career history, and her recent
tenure as the Mayor of Charnwood.
The residents and staff were in awe of her commitment to her role and the community of
Loughborough.
The afternoon was spent with the Mayor hearing about the history of the Home, since 3ab
Care took over in 2016, as well as the challenges the care home sector is facing.
The Mayor spoke with residents, hearing about the previous jobs, and lives prior to coming
into the Care Home. The residents enjoyed taking pictures with the Mayor….and her Gold
chain.
The Residents then enjoyed a home cooked afternoon tea, served in the Homes very special china.
