Day out- Thursday 18th April 2024
This morning, we had the pleasure of accompanying two of our lovely ladies, Joan and Phyllis, to the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. They explored the fascinating exhibitions, including the temporary William Blake photography exhibition, which evoked nostalgic smiles all around.
Birthday Celebration- Monday 15th April 2024
Today, our dear Raymond celebrated his 92nd birthday, and we organized a cosy gathering. Our talented chef made a delightful birthday cake, which we joyfully shared with all the residents.
Animal Therapy- Friday 12th April 2024
Our residents had a fantastic morning getting up close and personal with the amazing animals from Zoolab! From brave strokes to gentle holds, we enjoyed every moments. Thank you ZooLab for this morning.
Armchair Exercise with Nathan- Wednesday 10th April 2024
Today, Nathan from Aston Health and Fitness led the exercise session, visiting residents in their rooms to ensure everyone could participate and reap the benefits of the activities.
Unicorn Day- Tuesday 9th April 2024
We’ve had lots of activities on today for Unicorn day! Firstly we had pin the tail or horn on the unicorn, closely followed by unicorn horn making with play-dough, then word searches and unicorn puzzles to finish off the day. Our staff always go above and beyond for our residents, thank you Sam and Gina for dressing up and putting a smile on everyone’s faces.
Happy Birthday Gladys- Monday 8th April 2024
Today we celebrated our resident Gladys’s Birthday here at Westcroft. Our chef Karen made a lovely cake decorated in her favourite colour.
Flower Arranging- Saturday 6th April 2024
We spend the morning with our wonderful flower arranging team, crafting beautiful arrangements for our home.
Sing- along with Tony Boyle- Tuesday 2nd April 2024
Today, we had the pleasure of hosting the incredibly talented entertainer, Tony Boyle! His performance filled our hearts with joy as he sang and played some beloved classics. It was a delightful treat for our residents, many of whom are musically inclined and enthusiastically joined in singing along throughout the entire performance. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with music, laughter, and cherished memories.
Easter Day Celebrations- Sunday 31st March 2024
Today at Westcroft, we had a whirlwind of egg-citing activities! 🐣 Our Easter bonnet competition brought out some incredible creativity from our residents, with fantastic displays all around. Congratulations to Alan for taking home the prize! A big shoutout to our wonderful staff members who brightened everyone’s day by donning bunny costumes and spreading joy to all our residents. Your efforts truly made a difference and were greatly appreciated!
In the afternoon, the fun continued with an Easter egg hunt, followed by a delightful Easter-themed jigsaw puzzle session. It was a day filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the spirit of Easter celebration.
Easter Church Service- Thursday 28th March 2024
As Easter draws near, we are wholeheartedly embracing the spiritual journey ahead. Today, we gathered for a serene Easter Church service, where we joined our voices in singing uplifting Easter hymns. It was a meaningful and beautiful experience that brought our community closer together in faith and celebration.
Armchair exercise with Nathan- Wednesday 27th March 2024
Today, we had another delightful armchair exercise session with Nathan. As part of our ongoing program, we now hold these sessions twice a month. This morning, we extended our reach by visiting residents in their rooms to engage them in this activity. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect and promote wellness among our community members.

We’ve played some fete style games this morning including skittles, ring toss and bean bag throwing! Lots of fun and smiles today.
Easter Crafts; Musical Entertainment- Monday 25th March 2024
This morning, our residents immersed themselves in an arts and crafts session, crafting delightful decorations for Easter. In the afternoon, the entertainer, Paul Gibson, graced us with his presence, providing our residents with a serene and enjoyable musical experience, allowing them to unwind and bask in the melodies.

Flower Frames Designing- Thursday 21st March 2024
Today, in celebration of National Flower Day 🌸, we embarked on a unique crafting journey: dried flower frames! Our residents delved into a world of creativity, using a variety of dried flowers, butterflies, and ladybirds to design their own personalized floral arrangements within frames. These beautiful creations will now adorn their rooms, a testament to their ingenuity and love for nature. 🌼✨
Prize Bingo- Wednesday 20th March 2024
Today’s bingo session was an absolute hit! Our wonderful players engaged in a thrilling game, each round tighter than the last. Smiles lit up the room as everyone walked away with prizes. 🏆 Thanks to the generosity of our staff and relatives, who kindly donate prizes, our bingo events are always filled with excitement. We truly appreciate your donations, which make our residents’ day, especially when they win treasures like the dazzling jewellery.
Creative Morning- Tuesday 19th March 2024
Today, we celebrated the arrival of sunshine and spring by adorning butterflies with an array of decorations: gems, flowers, hearts, and even tiny race cars!
St. Patrick’s Day- Sunday 17th March 2024
In honour of St. Patrick’s Day, our dedicated staff dressed themselves in festive attire, bringing joy to our residents. Trying on wigs and hats brought smiles all around, creating cherished memories. Our home was beautifully decorated, setting the perfect backdrop for balloon games and creative crafts, enjoyed by all.
Red Nose Day- Friday 15th March 2024
In solidarity with Red Nose Day charity fundraising, we enthusiastically participated in the festivities by celebrating Red Nose Day at our home today.
Recognition Party- Thursday 14th March 2024
We got the wonderful opportunity to host a recognition ceremony for our staff who served the company for over 10 years. Special mention to Sue Hobson, who has always been there for our residents and now she is retiring after her 25 years of service at Westcroft. A big thank you to Arvind Patel, the Chairman of 3ab care and Hitan Patel for handing over the certificates for our dedicated staff and making the event more special.

We draw the lucky winner for bonus ball today. Margaret Connor, our resident won £30 cash price, which was handed over by the Chairman.

We celebrated our resident Emily’s 92nd birthday today. We shared the cake among the residents during tea time.
Musical moments is another great addition to our activities plan. Our residents enjoy these interactive musical sessions, promoting gentle exercises with music.
Dominoes Contest- Tuesday 5th March 2024
We had a dominos contest this morning! There were some keen competitors, but Emily was our winner and won the prize. Well done everyone.

Floral Design Day- Wednesday 28th February 2024
Our residents have been getting crafty for the floral design day, we’ve made some flowers on stems which they decorated, and used some synthetic flowers to make flower displays too.
Game’s Morning- Tuesday 27th February 2024
Jigsaws are often an engaging activity our residents enjoy. Engaging with jigsaws fosters a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, enhancing overall well-being in our residents.

Nathan from Aston Health and Fitness led our residents in an enjoyable armchair workout this morning. The majority of our residents participate in these activities, which help to enhance and support their mobility.

Today we celebrated our resident Margaret Connor’s birthday here at Westcroft. Our chef Karen made a cake to add to the celebrations. The cake was shared among the residents during tea time.
Visit to the Hanley Park- Friday 16th February 2024
Today we went out to Hanley Park with two of our residents. Our residents enjoyed the pleasant weather, watched the birds and fed the squirrels. Outdoor excursions offer invaluable benefits, promotes overall well-being, invigorates the mind, and enhances mood.
Valentine’s Day- Wednesday 14th February 2024
We celebrated love with our Valentine’s Day Flower Arranging! Residents enjoyed crafting beautiful bouquets to decorate our home, and we made sure to use this occasion to show our love towards our residents by gifting a flower for each one of them. In appreciation, each staff member received a flower, honouring their dedicated service. It’s moments like these that bloom with warmth and gratitude.
Pancake Day- Tuesday 13th February 2024
Our residents came together for a delightful Pancake Decorating activity on this Pancake Day! Adding a burst of colour and flavour to the pancakes with fresh fruits, our residents enjoyed bonding over creativity, fostering community spirit, and relishing delicious, healthy treats together.
Birthday Celebrations- Sunday 11th February 2024
Today we celebrated our resident James’s 76th birthday. Our chef made a lovely cake for him, which was shared among all the residents for dinner.

The staff surveys have now been completed and analysed. The staff were fed back the results and outcomes at the staff meeting held on Wednesday 7th February 2024. We had a lovely morning with musical moments. We got many positive responses from our residents and families on these sessions and now we have regular monthly sessions booked in for our residents.

Books Session; Sing along with Paul Gibson- Monday 29th January 2024
Reading sessions usually keep our residents engaged. Our residents choose different books and magazines based on their interests and share their thoughts and comments with other residents and staff.

We organised a fundraiser cake sale at our home today and became part of the Christmas Jumper Day. Our staff and families of residents supported us in raising £76 from the event which we donated to ‘Save the Children’, the charity organisation.

We celebrated Elf Day today at our home. Our staff dressed up as elves and we organised a lucky draw for our residents.

Today we had a fun day with different games here at Westcroft. We played dominoes, and card games and did a word search as well.
Christmas Jumper Day- Fundraiser Cake Sale
We are hosting a fundraiser cake sale on Thursday 7th December, on Christmas Jumper Day. The money raised will be donated to ‘Save The Children’. We invite the families and friends of our residents to take part in this charity event. Please see our Facebook page for more updates.

Today we went out to Bygones Tea Room, the themed tea room in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Our residents loved the setting and had drinks and snacks of their choice.
Reminiscence- Tuesday 21st November 2023
Reminiscence activities are always enjoyed by our residents. We use different picture cards and advertisements from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s to make it more impactful.

Today we went to the Sacred Heart Church in Hanley and had a peaceful and quiet morning. Our residents shared their memories of going to church and how important it was during their young ages.

Today we celebrated Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights at our home. We created some beautiful Rangoli designs, decorated our home, and shared sweets.

We celebrated Coffee Day today at our home. Our residents were assisted in making coffee for themselves and created some patterns using coffee stain.
Art and Craft; Reading Session- Saturday 30th September 2023
Today we had a creative crafts session in the morning. Our residents made flower wreaths to decorate our home. Reading books is another activity enjoyed by most of our residents.
Wacky Wednesday- Wednesday 27th September 2023
We had another fun and entertaining day at our home- Wacky Wednesday. Today we enjoyed balloon games, dressed up differently to match the theme and decorated our home.
Trip to Longton– Friday 22nd September 2023
Today we went out to ‘The Unconventional Menagerie’, a pet shop in Longton. Thereafter we walked to Tesco for shopping.

Our resident Cliff celebrated his 91st birthday today.
We had another lovely sing-along session with Paul Gibson today. The monthly entertainment sessions give our residents time to reminisce about different singers, songs they love and memories connected to it.
Joan Higgins is our resident of the day today. She loves ‘fish and chips’ and we had it for dinner.

Our residents enjoyed playing different games in the last two days. These games help maintain a good relationship between our residents and maintain the homely atmosphere.

Coffee Morning, Walk Outside- Wednesday 13th September 2023
Today we had a lovely morning with our residents and their family, who joined in for a coffee morning. Our chief Karen made cakes for everyone.
We went outside for a walk to the Hanley Park and our residents had a pleasant time watching birds and feeding them.

Residential/ Relative Referral Scheme- Monday 4th September 2023
This morning our Manager, Martin Rogerson, presented Lesley Norcup with a £500 gift voucher for recommending a resident to the Home. Lesley’s brother is in the Home and she recommended one of her friends to contact us regarding placement for her Dad. Her friend’s Dad came to us at the end of July. Thank you Lesley for your recommendation

It was nice and warm in the gardens, so our residents stayed outside for dinner.
Entertainment Session- Friday 1st September 2023
Today our entertainer Tony Boyle visited us and we had a fun afternoon.
Resident of the Day; Puzzles and Jigsaws- Thursday 31st August 2023
Our resident of the day today is Jimmy. He chose to have roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with jam and sponge and custard afterwards. He loves dominoes so we played dominoes in the morning. We also had a puzzle and jigsaw session in the afternoon.
Clothing Sale; Reminiscing and Activities in rooms- Tuesday 29th August 2023
Today we had a clothing sale at our home. Some of our residents bought different clothes for themselves. We also kept some time aside for reminiscing and did some activities with residents in rooms.
Resident of the Day- Thursday 24th August 2023
Bob is our ‘resident of the day’. He loves beef stew and dumplings and we had it for dinner.

We have different activities pre-planned and prepared for each day to keep our residents engaged. Even though we have everything pre-planned, we do change our plans around to suit the mood of our residents. Today we had different activities setup for our residents. Reminiscing and sensory activities are loved by most of our residents.
Fruit Tasting; Birthday Celebrations- Saturday 19th August 2023
Today we had a fruit-tasting session and our residents were busy tasting different fruits and had fun, chasing memories they had connected with different fruit tastes.
We also celebrated our resident Alan’s birthday and shared a birthday cake among residents in the afternoon.
Baking Session- Friday 18th August 2023
We had a baking session this morning and our residents made scones. We were so happy that it turned out well and we enjoyed it in the afternoon.
Music and Sing Along- Sunday 13th August 2023
Today, our residents had a lovely morning with music and a sing-along session.
Creative Morning; and Sensory Afternoon – Friday 11th August 2023
We have creative sessions almost every week and this has positively impacted the mood of our residents. Today we had an art session and were loved by everyone.

Chinese Theme Day- Wednesday 9th August 2023
We arranged a Chinese theme day at our home to celebrate and learn more about Chinese culture. Our residents made Chinese hats and paper fans and enjoyed the Chinese dinner which was the major attraction.
Quiz, Wordsearch and Bowling- Tuesday 8th August 2023
Our residents enjoyed a quiz and word searcha session this morning.
We also had fun afternoon with bowling. Most of our residents took part in the game.

Today we enjoyed a small session of magnetic darts game in the afternoon.
Flower arranging; Pampering Session- Friday 4th August 2023
We used this morning to create some floral decorations for our home.
We use our Friday afternoon every week to focus on self-care and self-healing- having hair done, and nails painted.
Resident of the day- Thursday 3rd August 2023
Our resident of the day is Reginald Jenkins. He loves cheese, tomato and sausage and chose to have cheesy mash, tomato and skinless sausage for dinner.
Yorkshire Day; Birthday Celebration; Creative Session- Tuesday 1st August 2023
We celebrated Yorkshire Day today by having a choice of minted lamb and Yorkshire puddings or toad in the hole and Yorkshire Parkin afterwards at lunchtime.
Today our resident Gordon celebrated his 88th birthday. Our cook Karen made a birthday cake for him and the staff came together to share birthday wishes with him. The cake was served to all the residents during teatime.
We had various activities set up this morning to support and encourage the artistic side of our residents.

Group activities and games often help in maintaining a comfortable and joyous environment at our home. Today we had a fun, busy morning with a parachute game which brought many of our residents together creating a better environment to interact with each other.

We had our monthly exercise session this morning. These regular sessions support our residents to keep them active and moving.
Resident of the day; Book Session- Thursday 27th July 2023
Our resident of the day is Alan and he requested steak, beef sausage, egg and beans for his dinner and enjoyed it. We also enjoyed a book session this morning.

We had a busy morning with games and lots of fun. Games and group activities support our residents and develop a comfortable atmosphere for our residents.

Creative Morning; Sensory Afternoon; Birthday Celebration- Saturday 22nd July 2023
Today our residents were busy creating photo collages memorizing the beautiful moments they had at home. We try to include sensory activities more frequently in our activities schedule as it is loved by most of our residents and it keeps them engaged.
Sea Side Day- Wednesday 19th July 2023
Today we celebrated the seaside day at our home and had a fun and entertaining morning with seaside decorations and games. We also had Punch and Judy show in the afternoon.
Sensory Activities- Sunday 16th July 2023
We have different sensory activities planned for each week to support, nourish and revive the sensory capabilities of our residents. Our sensory morning activity including pet animal toys was loved by our residents.
Trip to Trentham Gardens- Thursday 13th July 2023
Today we went out to Trentham Gardens and Shopping Village. Our residents enjoyed the pleasant weather and bought plants for our garden. We planted them in our garden this afternoon involving more residents who couldn’t join the outing.
Games- Tuesday 11th July 2023
We had different games set up for today- Snakes and ladders, dominoes, card games. Puzzles and jigsaws keep many of our residents cheerful and engaged.
Chocolate Day- Friday 7th July 2023
Today we tried different flavoured chocolates, had hot chocolate with marshmallows, and made mint-flavoured chocolate by painting chocolate on mint leaves, together with chocolate on marshmallows.
Coffee Morning and Animal Therapy- Thursday 6th July 2023
Today we enjoyed a lovely coffee morning. We welcomed our resident’s family and shared coffee and cakes together.
We had a small animal therapy session this afternoon and welcomed two ponies to our home for our residents.

Today we looked through different postcards from seaside resorts and shared lots of memories.
Ball games and dominoes- Saturday 1st July 2023
We enjoyed playing ball games with the giant inflatable balls and played dominoes too this morning
Self-care and pampering- Friday 30th June 2023
The hairdresser visits our home every Friday afternoon. We use this time to have our nails done.

Today we enjoyed music and sing along.
Puzzles and card games- Tuesday 27th June 2023
Jigsaw puzzles are loved by many of our residents and we kept some aside to complete it together. Sorting cards is also another activity that keeps some of them engaged.

Reminiscing- Tuesday 20th June 2023
Reminiscing cards are often included in our activities to encourage our residents to talk about their life events and memories. Today, our residents talked about their memories of different advertisements and jobs that were common during the 1940s.
Flower Arranging- Saturday 17th June 2023
Different group and individual activities are included in our activities plan to contribute to different abilities and interests of our residents. Flower arranging help our residents to support each other and share their thoughts to create different floral designs staying together as a group.
Exercise session- Friday 16th June 2023
We had our monthly visit for Aston Health and Fitness this morning to support our residents and keep them moving.
Visit to Potteries Museum and Art Gallery; Entertainment Concert- Thursday 15th June 2023
Today we had a planned outing to the Potteries Museum and art gallery. Two of our residents were included in the visit. We have more visits planned ahead and hope to take more residents out to different places of interest.

We have different sensory-focused activities at our home to support and provide the environment for our residents to use their different senses. Today we had a sensory afternoon including the pet animal miniatures at our home.
Bingo- Saturday 10th June 2023
Today our residents enjoyed a game of Bingo. We had two winners- Gordan and Jimmy. Both our winners chose chocolates as prizes from various other choices given.
Birthday Celebrations- Friday 9th June 2023
Today we celebrated our resident Phyllis’s birthday and shared the birthday cake among all our residents during tea time.

We try to include different virtual media spaces in our activities to introduce modern media to our residents.
Reminiscence – Sunday 4th June 2023
Today we set some time aside for reminiscence and focused on activities our residents used to do during their young age. Doing laundry and knitting keeps many of our residents engaged.

Today our staff brought their pets to our home for the residents.

Our resident of the day is Margaret Connor. She chose to have her nails done this morning. We also went to Hanley Park and enjoyed quality time watching birds and flowers. Our dinner menu for today was of her choice. She loves Chinese chicken and chocolate éclair and so we chose to have it together with her.
Biscuit Day and Birthday Celebration- Monday 29th May 2023
Today we celebrated biscuit day by sharing and tasting different flavoured biscuits.
We also celebrated our resident Ann’s birthday together at our home. We had a lovely cake which was shared among the residents during the teatime.

Our resident of the day is Beryl Jenkins. Today, she chose for dinner of chicken salad and strawberry trifle.
We visited Hanley Park this morning. Our residents enjoyed the pleasant weather outside, watching the birds and greenery.
We also had the monthly visit from the entertainer Tony Boyle this afternoon.

Today we celebrated bee day at home and enjoyed a lovely bee cake.

Our resident of the day is Betty Plant and we chose to set aside the day for her. She used to enjoy gardening and flower arranging during her working life and therefore we choose to do flower arranging this morning. Her favourite food, Chinese dinner was served to her as well.
International Nurses Day- Friday 12th May 2023
We thank all our nurses for the care and support you are providing each day. Today our residents made thank you cards for our nurses to express our gratitude for their service.
Time outside the home- Tuesday 9th May 2023
We hope to have more trips planned as the weather improves. As the first step, we started with small walks through our garden enjoying the sunshine.

We started our coronation celebrations by decorating our home and enjoyed a buffet dinner.

Today, we had a lovely morning trying on aqua painting.

We celebrated our resident Nora’s birthday today. Karen made us a lovely cake and our residents enjoyed it for tea time.
Aston Health and Fitness- Friday 28th April 2023
Today we had our monthly visit from Nathan (Aston Health and Fitness). Our residents enjoyed the session and were supported and encouraged throughout the session.
Creative sessions- Saturday 22nd April 2023
We set aside some time over the last few days for our creative side. Our residents created different arts and were supported throughout.
A fun activity with kinetic sand- Tuesday 18th April 2023
Today our resident had fun making kinetic sand, and building sand structures.
Entertainment concert- Thursday 13th April 2023
We had a lovely afternoon enjoying songs from Paul Gibson. Some of our residents danced to the songs and some enjoyed singing along with him.
Easter Celebrations- Sunday 9th and Monday 10th April 2023
We started our Easter celebrations on Easter Sunday by decorating our Home and having Roast Lamb for dinner. We had more fun on Easter Monday with an Easter Bonnet competition. Easter celebrations are never complete without an Easter egg hunt and Easter egg rolling. So we had these games as well, in a different way.
Good Friday- Friday 7th April 2023
We enjoyed lovely hot cross buns for good Friday. We are progressing with our Easter bonnet decorations and card-making to get them ready for Easter Monday.
Easter Bonnets and Easter Eggs- Tuesday 28th March 2023
Our residents started Easter celebrations by decorating Easter Bonnets and Easter Eggs. It was ensured that each of them is supported and encouraged throughout to create their unique designs the way they prefer.
Games and fun activities- Wednesday 22nd March 2023
A day well spend with some ball games and puzzles. Our residents also enjoyed a reading session in the afternoon with some interesting books and pictures.
International Happiness Day- Monday 20th March 2023
Today we celebrated international happiness day with some games and crafts. Memories about pets always make many of our residents happy, so we had a fun session with some toy animal pets in the afternoon.

Valentine’s Day – Tuesday 14th February 2023
Today we celebrated Valentine’s Day. Karen made a special meal of Chicken Supreme. She also made a lovely cake. Paul Gibson entertained all in the afternoon and the residents enjoyed some strawberries dipped in chocolate and other chocolate treats. An enjoyable day was had by all.
National Pizza Day – Thursday 9th February 2023
Today we celebrated National Pizza Day. The residents chose their favourite toppings for their pizza and then enjoyed eating them! A fun morning was had by all.

First Aid at Work Training – Tuesday 22nd November 2022
Today, seven members of staff attended a first aid training at work session. The seven staff members who attended were Sally Weaver, Florence Phiri, Ronaldo Castil, Natalie Plant, Noren Chand, Rebecca Millward and Gina Bosworth. Congratulations to all staff who passed the course.

Roy Johnson – Wednesday 30th March 2022
It is with great sadness that we report that our former maintenance person Roy Johnson sadly passed on the 4th March 2022. Roy had worked here for over 15 years, eventually retiring in June 2016. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Quiet Lounge Extension – Tuesday 30th November 2021
After a few weeks delay work has re-started on the quite lounge extension. The roof is now on and the walls have been painted. The electrician is due in this week to finish his work off. The residents are looking forward to being able to sit in here once it is complete.
Bedroom Refurbishment – Friday 19th November 2021
We had one of shared rooms completely refurbished for our new couple Ken and Joan Bowes who came to us on Tuesday 23rd November 2021.

Cheese and Chutney Tasting – Thursday 14th October 2021
We all enjoyed the Cheese and Chutney tasting session today. A variety of cheeses were served as well as crackers, grapes and crisps.
Quiet Lounge Extension – Thursday 14th October 2021
The Quiet Lounge Extension work continues. Work continues on the block paving around the back of the garden. The doors are in and we await the electrician to come tomorrow. The roof should be delivered in a couple of weeks time.
Aqua Painting – Friday 8th October 2021
This morning Our Resident’s enjoyed doing some Aqua painting. There were some very nice designs upon completion and all Resident’s enjoyed this mornings activity.

The Quiet Lounge Extension work continues. There has been some delays due to the recent bad weather. Work has also started on the block paving around the back of the garden.

Two Staff climb Snowdon – Thursday 9th September 2021
Recently two of our Senior Care Assistants Nicola Webb and Gina Bosworth climbed Mount Snowdon to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer’s. Well Done to both of them for taking on this challenge and raising over £500 for the charity.
Quiet Lounge Extension – Tuesday 7th September 2021
Work is continuing on our Quiet Lounge Extension. The roof is almost up ready for the dome top to be put in.

Today the residents spent the day relaxing by listening to music, reading and doing some colouring.

Work started on our Quiet Lounge Extension on Tuesday 3rd August 2021. We now have the foundations in place and the start of the side wall. Its coming along nicely!
Daniel Mutarah Memorial Bench – Wednesday 4th August 2021
Today we received this memorial bench from the family of the (Late) Daniel Muturah, who sadly passed away last year. Daniel worked here as a Registered Nurse for over four years. He is still missed by all Residents and Staff here at Westcroft. We will remember him as part of the Westcroft Family for many years to come. A Big Thank You to Daniel’s family for providing us with this memory.

Indoor visiting – Wednesday 31st March 2021
We were pleased to welcome back visitors into the Home from today. Margaret and Harry were pleased to see their loved ones.
Double Birthday Celebration – Friday 19th March 2021
We had two residents Birthdays on Friday 19th March 2021. Jean Shirley celebrated her 89th Birthday and Alan Tweedy celebrated his 91st Birthday. St. Patrick’s Day – Wednesday 17th March 2021
We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in the Home on Wednesday 17th March 2021. The residents enjoyed some tasty food throughout the day. Staff were asked to wear orange and green colours on the day.
St. David’s Day – Monday 1st March 2021
We celebrated St. David’s Day in the Home on Monday 1st March 2021. The residents got to enjoy some Welsh cakes made by the Cook. They also carried out some activities during the day.
Margaret Connor’s 76th Birthday – Friday 19th February 2021
Margaret Connor celebrated her 76th Birthday here on Friday 19th February. The kitchen staff made her a lovely birthday cake, and all staff sang Happy Birthday to her. She had a lovely day and had a surprise visit from her Husband and daughter. She also had a video call with another daughter and her family. Fruit Tasting – Wednesday 3rd February 2021
The residents enjoyed tasting a variety of difference fruits today. They even had some fruit smoothies.

Resident’s Christmas Party – Thursday 17th December 2020
We held our Resident’s Christmas Party on Thursday 17th December. Unfortunately, this year we were unable to invite relatives and friends to the party. Nevertheless all the residents had a great day, even enjoying a quick visit from Santa. Home “Opportunities” – Tuesday 15th December 2020
We have “opportunities” in the Home for you to come stay with us for a short period of time (respite care), before a long term commitment is made. You will get to see first hand the excellent levels of care our staff provide and all the activities we carry out in the Home. Chinese Day – Thursday 19th November 2020
We held a Chinese themed day in the Home on Thursday 19th November. The residents enjoyed some lovely Chinese food, as well as carrying out activities on the day. Home Visiting – Friday 23rd October 2020
Following Stoke on Trent going into Tier 2, the council have advised that all visits to the Home are stopped. We have therefore decided to stop all residents visits until further notice. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused but we must follow local guidance in order to protect Our Residents. We thank all relatives for their understanding in this matter.
Sue Hobson – Resident referral scheme – Friday 23rd October 2020
The Home Manger, Martin Rogerson, presented staff member Sue Hobson a cheque for £500 as part of the Home’s referral scheme. Sue brought her Dad into the Home, and as part of the scheme a gift of £500 is given to the person who refers the new resident, after the resident has been in the Home for a minimum period of 12 weeks. Congratulations to Sue, the first person to receive the award.

Autumn Day – Tuesday 22nd September 2020
We celebrated the first day of Autumn with a themed day. Residents and Staff were asked to wear Autumn coloured clothing. In the morning the residents activity was chocolate painting mint leaves. A special lunch was served, with a homemade cake for pudding, made by Karen. In the afternoon, it was an arts and crafts session with the Residents making leaves for their wish tree. Royal Day – Thursday 27th August 2020
On Thursday 27th August 2020 we held a “Royal” themed day in the Home. Residents wore Crowns or Tiaras and staff dressed in red, white or blue. The lounge was decorated for the occasion. During the morning there was a quiz with many of the residents recognising various members of the Royal Family both as children and adults. A special lunch was served and enjoyed by all. Afternoon Tea – Thursday 13th August 2020
On Thursday 13th August 2020 we held Afternoon Tea in the Home. The residents got to enjoy a selection of sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea. A lovely afternoon was had by all.

Seaside Day – Thursday 16th July 2020
On Thursday 16th July, we held our annual ‘Seaside Day’ in the Home. This was a very good day enjoyed by all residents. Staff were asked to dress up in ‘beach’wear also. Burgers and Hot dogs were served for lunch. Ice cream and Candyfloss were available for dessert. The resident’s enjoyed playing games. Please see photos below.
Kay Palmer’s 80th Birthday – Tuesday 14th July 2020
Our new resident, Kay Palmer, celebrated her 80th Birthday here on the 14th July. She had a lovely day receiving many cards and flowers. She was able to speak to her daughter via video call, which made her day even more special. She was treated to a lovely Birthday cake, made by the kitchen staff.

Home Update – Tuesday 30th June 2020
Its been a busy, but different last few months here at Westcroft Nursing Home. We are still in ‘lockdown’ but that hasn’t stopped Our Residents enjoying day to day life as usual. There have been lots of different activities going on in the Home, carried out by our activities coordinators.
We are grateful to all residents and relatives for their understanding and patience during these unprecedented times. We are hoping for better times in the near future, but must be mindful that Our Residents are protected at all times.
Our staff have been amazing throughout this pandemic, coming in everyday and caring for Our Residents, working with smiles on their faces. They have all shown that they will not be defeated by this ‘virus’.
We are hopeful that we will be open for visiting soon, but please do bear with us and we will update with further news as soon as we have any.
Referral Scheme – Monday 22nd June 2020
Just a reminder to any resident and/or relative that should you recommend another resident here to Westcroft Nursing Home, you will be entitled to a “Finder’s Fee” payment, made to you once the new resident has been in the Home for three months. If you know anyone looking for 24 hour Nursing Care please ask them to contact Ketan Patel or Martin Rogerson at the Home.
